Archbishop's Charge!

24 May 2014

"Our task is to be so overwhelmed by Christ that we have no alternative but to tell others," Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, has told our clergy and lay ministers in an address entitled "Holding onto Christ".

The Archbishop said that our renewal and strength will be centred in two things: worship and drawing deeper into the life of Christ; and speaking and showing the fact that no one ever made, or can make, a better decision in their whole life than to become a disciple of Jesus Christ, in any circumstances, whatever their age, whoever they are.

The DNA of any and every church cannot be anything less that having a focus on :

Worship
Giving
Mission
Thankgiving

When we worship, we encounter.
When we give, we serve as we have been served.
When we explicitly share the Gospel of Christ; we fulfil His Great Commission.
When we give thanks, we exercise an attitude of gratitude.

ASHP exists to fulfill such a call.

Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting in the church on Tuesday 2nd October and for sharing their views. It was good to hear so many people were keen to give their support to the church as it seeks to find a viable option for the continued provision of community meeting space and a place to worship.

Many people discussed fundraising options following the meeting and the Parochial Church Council (PCC) will discuss these alongside the other issues raised as soon as is practicable and will feed back to you.

In the meantime if anyone wishes to become involved in providing practical support please feel free to call in after any of our Sunday services (9am or 10.30am) and speak to any members of the PCC.

Many blessings, All Saints Church
