Finishing Strong

Rev Steve - 25 Jun 2015

Life is a race, writes the apostle Paul; and reaching the finishing line (heaven) is the goal. It doesn't matter how you started or even how the journey was, but what matters is finishing, and finishing strong.

Therefore, three main principles are to be applied if we are to finish life's race strong and friends it's all up H.I.L.

1) Humility
2) Integrity
3) causing Legacy.

No matter what we own, earn or possess, they don't make the person, the person makes them. When we die, and we all will eventually; its the legacy of our lives that we leave behind not what we own but who we were.

We came into life and were placed in a box (crib) and we leave life being put back in a box (coffin) we brought nothing in and we take nothing out (there's no riches man in the cemetery) all we possess is our reputation, which in turn feeds our legacy.

Jesus finished well, in fact he triumphed over death with resurrected new life, no one else in all of history has accomplished that. We too can take part in that new life and finish well, if we allow Him to be our coach. Until then, the question remains: what reputation do we have?

Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting in the church on Tuesday 2nd October and for sharing their views. It was good to hear so many people were keen to give their support to the church as it seeks to find a viable option for the continued provision of community meeting space and a place to worship.

Many people discussed fundraising options following the meeting and the Parochial Church Council (PCC) will discuss these alongside the other issues raised as soon as is practicable and will feed back to you.

In the meantime if anyone wishes to become involved in providing practical support please feel free to call in after any of our Sunday services (9am or 10.30am) and speak to any members of the PCC.

Many blessings, All Saints Church
